The City upgrades the levee to meet safety standards at a cost of approximately $272 for the first annual assessment for the average homeowner.

Measure P provides locally-controlled funds to improve the Foster City levee to meet FEMA accreditation

Foster City is designated a flood hazard zone and most homeowners will be required to buy flood insurance at an estimated cost of $2,000–$3,000 per year. Homeowners and businesses that already have flood insurance will likely pay more for the same coverage.

FEMA designates Foster City a flood zone

Estimated $2,000–$3,000 in mandatory, annual flood insurance for homes with federally insured loans.

Foster City essential services are at risk in the event of a strong storm

In a designated flood zone, any home or building upgrades may require the property to be raised a specified height off the ground

When deciding to sell, homeowners must disclose the house is located in a flood zone
